Oh my god, Dub, Rion and I were just looking at this last week and we said the exact same thing. We loudly expressed our disbelief at the stupidity of it all in front of the bar's open door and then stared around to see who might be wearing white tennis shoes. Then we talked about how Rion can't go in there with his wedding ring. STUPID (we were actually there to do laundry next door, since who wants to go to Shady's anyway?)
Duke! This is not surprising. But I love how it's written in colorful fun chalk in the sorority font.
My latest obsession with insidious racism lies in a fad that all the young kids in Tuscaloosa are wearing on the vanity plates of their cars: a cotton symbol. Just in case you think it might *not* be racism, all the users of this product are white, wear camo hats, and wear t-shirts that read, "If I woulda know it'd get this bad, I'da picked my own..." Okay, maybe not that last one, but I'm going to get to the bottom of this, Scooby.
I'm happy! I have a dog named Rooster and once had a pet crow named Oprah. I love politics, Louisiana, and poor people. I made this blog to share my thoughts, memories and experiences on the Mississippi River and to flex my writing muscles.
